All new construction permitted through the South County Fire Authority is reviewed and inspected by the Community Risk Reduction Division to ensure proposed construction projects, building improvements, remodels, and additions to existing structures meet applicable fire and life-safety requirements per the adopted California Fire Code and City/County Ordinances. All new installations and all modifications to fire protection and life safety systems are reviewed and inspected by the Community Risk Reduction Division to ensure that the installation or modifications meet applicable fire and life-safety codes and standards.

SUBMITTAL  PROCESS

South San Joaquin County Fire Authority's Electronic Plan Submittal for construction documents are to be submitted through The Construction Permit Application Portal.  This will allow applicants to submit Portable Document Format (PDF) files and it will enable the applicant to receive updates during the plan check process. This process has replaced paper submittals, streamlined the submittal process, reduced paper waste, and reduced the cost of paper plan production.

This online portal is only for deferred submittals to the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority such as

  • Fire Alarm
  • Fire Sprinklers
  • Fire Service Underground 
  • Smoke Control System 
  • Kitchen Hood Suppression System
  • Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (DAS System)
  • Paint Booth 
  • County Fire Access

Please note Building permits and resubmitted documents associated with Building permits are still to be submitted to the respective Building Departments (City of Tracy or San Joaquin County). 

SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS

South San Joaquin County Fire Authority requires construction plans and documents to be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF) for all projects. The submittal requirements include the following: 

  1. Submitted as a PDF document
  2. Include construction documents and relevant supplemental documents
  3. Each plan sheet to include 2" x 2" box in bottom right corner for approval stamps
  4. Files shall NOT be locked as "Read Only"

Plans are comprised of the construction plans and supplemental information.  On the cover sheet, the sheet index shall only bear sheets which are included in the submitted set, and all sheets included in the set must be shown in this index.

All design professional stamps must be signed. Signature should be accomplished by placing an image which includes the digital stamp and wet signature on each sheet.

Supplemental Information shall be all documents necessary for the scope of your project.

  • Fire Sprinkler System component cut sheets
  • Fire alarm battery calculations
  • Geotechnical Reports
  • Fire Flow letter
  • Technical specifications
  • Plan review response letter
  • Fire Alarm component cutsheets
  • Fire Service Underground component cutsheets

****NOTE: Not all of these documents are required for every project****

Scale:
PDF exhibits must be generated at a prescribed engineer (i.e. 1:10, 1:20, 1:25, 1:30, 1:40, or 1:50) or architect (i.e. 1/4, 1/8, 3/16, 3/32) scale for staff to verify dimensions and areas within the file.

Once you submit your plans through the portal the applicant will receive an automated email. CRR staff will then create a permit and email an invoice along with guide on how to submit online payment.  No review will occur until payment is received. All credit/debit card transactions will incur a non-refundable convenience fee of 2.55% for transaction processing or a minimum fee of $1.95 on the transaction amount. All electronic check transactions will incur a non-refundable convenience fee of $1.75 for transactions up to $50,000, additional fees may be imposed for higher amounts.
